Senior Communications Associate, Fossil to Clean
Reports to: Deputy Director, Campaigns & Communications
We are looking for a Senior Associate to coordinate and support the delivery of the communications strategy for Fossil to Clean. This person will help raise awareness for the campaign by developing and implementing communications tactics, key messages, events and content for digital channels in collaboration with the We Mean Business Coalition secretariat, partners and companies. The We Mean Business Coalition’s communications team deploys cutting-edge communications strategy and tactics to deliver on the Fossil to Clean campaign goals, influencing the role of business and policy in the global energy transition. As part of the communications team, you will work closely with colleagues across the systems, policy and net zero teams to help deliver a world class and transformative campaign.
- Work with the Fossil to Clean and communications internal teams and partners to define and implement communication strategies
- Develop and maintain messaging, campaign content (e.g., blogs, op-eds, statements, press releases, social media assets, website), and support in the delivery of campaign events as part of a coordinated campaign
- Support in managing relationships and work with creative, communication and PR agencies and freelance contractors involved in delivery of the campaign where appropriate
- Vet, seek out and oversee opportunities for Fossil to Clean to be featured at key climate and business events
- Help inform, recruit and place Fossil to Clean spokespeople in strategic communications opportunities and events and leverage their participation for campaigning impact
- Monitor relevant news, research and other intel on the shift from fossil to clean for potential campaign content and rapid response communications
- Put in place, monitor and update tracking mechanisms to measure progress, ensure impact and support campaign fundraising efforts
- Coordinate closely across the WMBC team to ensure the timely delivery of communications work and that individuals across the teams understand their own roles and deadlines in supporting communications elements of the campaign.

- Clear communicator that ensures everyone has received the same message and has a common understanding when you relay information
- Positive mindset with a creative approach to problem-solving
- Ideally, experience working with digital project management and collaboration tools as well as analytics processes and platforms
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in marketing, journalism, communications or public relations) or relevant experience.
- >5 years’ experience working in field of communications
- You have worked with varied stakeholders on high-level media projects
- Experience in project management and/or management of an in-house and outsourced team.
- You are comfortable managing high-level stakeholders.
- You have led or helped a team translate a vision and goals into a media strategy and creative content
- Experience working with corporate audiences is a plus
- Comfortable working remotely
