How business can drive delivery of Indonesia’s 2035 NDC
Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development, We Mean Business Coalition
With its abundant renewable energy potential, rich natural capital, and strong industrial base, Indonesia stands at the crossroads of a historic economic opportunity: to drive growth and job creation through a just and orderly transition to net zero by 2060. Polling shows that 88% of Indonesian business leaders want the government to transition away from fossil fuels to a renewables-based electricity system by 2035. As global markets accelerate toward low-carbon production and trade, Indonesia’s ability to attract green investment, increase value chain participation and boost competitiveness will depend on clear, consistent and credible policies.
The Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development and We Mean Business Coalition are proud to present this briefing, which highlights the key role of business in driving delivery of Indonesia’s 2035 NDC. By strengthening coordination across ministries, aligning incentives and accelerating renewable energy access, Indonesia can transform its economic model, reduce its vulnerability to fossil fuel volatility and position itself as a regional leader in clean technology markets.
