Schneider Electric’s Plan to Accelerate Electrification
We Mean Business Coalition & Schneider Electric
This video is part of our series, Electric Advantage in Action, which spotlights how businesses are capitalizing on the tangible, wide-ranging benefits that come with electrification.
Schneider Electric is a French multinational and global leader in energy management, electrification, automation and digital transformation. Operating in more than 100 countries, the company plays a significant role in supporting the global transition to a more digital, energy-efficient future.
Schneider Electric’s approach to electrification is twofold. First, it aims to bring more people into the effort by equipping them with the skills they need to embark on the electrification journey. Second, it is working to create demand for electrification by providing customers with services to measure energy consumption, shift toward electricity and use artificial intelligence to model and reduce their energy use for greater efficiency.
As Gilles Vermot-Desroches, Senior Vice President of Schneider Electric, puts it: “If we do not invest today, we will have to invest tomorrow and that will be more expensive and the damage will only be bigger.”

Gilles Vermot Desroches, Senior Vice President of Schneider Electric:
“When it comes to the question of electrification, in my view, today, we have to tackle two big issues.”
“One of the issues is the question of skills.”
“If we would like to increase electricity everywhere we need to have the skills to do that and today we don’t have enough people involved in this area.”
“It’s a very good opportunity to embark people, in a new way, in a new job, with the skills to deal with electricity. That is the first question.”
“The second question is linked to the demand. How do we drastically change the demand?”
“When we keep that in mind, we will certainly progress more.”
“The job of my company is to support other companies and people in charge of building at home and in the city to measure energy consumption and shift to electricity.”
“With this shift, we need to be able to use artificial intelligence in order to organize models to consume less and to increase comfortability and safety.”
“If we don’t invest today, we will have to invest tomorrow. That will be more expensive and the damage will certainly be bigger.”
