June 23, 2021 – UK business and policy leadership for net zero
CLG UKThe year ahead will be a year of climate action. The UK is host of the COP26 global climate summit taking place in November 2021. The government has committed to ‘build back greener’ as we emerge from the pandemic and to publish a Net Zero Strategy setting out how it will deliver on climate action ahead of COP26. Government, business and civil society must work in partnership to get on track to net zero and to ensure the Net Zero Strategy maps out a credible, comprehensive and realistic pathway to net zero. All sectors and levels of the economy will need to commit to action, set goals and pick up the pace to achieve ambitious emissions reductions.
CLG UK will publish ‘Bridging the gap: UK business and policy leadership for net zero’. Building on analysis undertaken by CISL’s Centre for Policy and Industrial Transformation that examines the progress that has been made towards reducing emissions in four key sectors: power and energy, built environment, road transport, and agriculture and land use, CLG UK’s publication Bridging the Gap sets out steps for how business and government can work together to bridge the gap between present action and necessary ambition.
This event will formally launch the Bridging the Gap recommendations report through a webinar exploring the challenges and opportunities for the UK to demonstrate climate leadership through the Net Zero Strategy to ensure it is on track to meet its ambitious medium and long term targets.
