The Business Pavilion at COP30
A new economy is rising – the shift to clean energy is underway, and businesses worldwide are already adapting, innovating and investing to stay ahead. With the right policies and incentives, business investment can accelerate economic growth, create better jobs, strengthen energy security and lower bills.
At COP30, the Business Pavilion served as the Coalition’s hub, showcasing business action, amplifying signals to policymakers, and providing a forum for influence, connection, and reflection.
The Business Pavilion at COP30
The electric era came into focus at COP30
Companies around the world are showing that clean energy is driving jobs, growth and energy security. As Maria highlighted, the electric era has arrived, with global investment in clean technologies now outpacing fossil fuels. Renewables and electrification are cutting costs and strengthening economic resilience.
But climate risks are rising. From severe storm losses in Jamaica to displacement in the Philippines, the impacts are real and urgent. Business voices are essential as governments raise ambition and provide clear policy roadmaps so companies can scale investment and accelerate a safer, more affordable future.
At COP30, the voice of business was stronger than ever.
In a changing world, innovative businesses are getting on with real world implementation and seizing new opportunities because they know it is the route to resilience, competitiveness and generating lasting value. But to go faster, companies need governments to stay the course and remove barriers.
By speaking up about the opportunities of the transition – from renewables and clean electrification to protecting nature – and how it can create jobs, growth and energy security, business can give governments confidence to put in place policies that unlock greater business action.
Policy priorities
Bold climate policy drives decisive business action
Amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainty, companies need clear and consistent policies more than ever. Businesses are urging governments to build on the signals from COP30 and put in place strong, actionable policies that enable confident investment.
By realigning incentives, governments can unlock private sector investment in the clean energy transition, to deliver faster implementation.
Ahead of COP30, 35 business groups – collectively representing networks of more than 135,000 companies – sent a strong message to world leaders, urging them to go all in for high ambition policy direction and realign public finance and policy support toward an affordable, reliable clean energy system.
Business also called on governments to create a clear path forward by:
- Reinforcing multilateralism to support global stability and predictability
- Turning climate targets into real policies and action: See our recommendations for ambitious and investible NDCs
- Ending deforestation and ecosystem loss: See the nature advocacy toolkit
- Advancing fair and inclusive action: See the just transition policy asks
