Through coalition-led advocacy, we are mobilizing business voices across regions and sectors to call for policies that drive investment and innovation and strengthen the foundations of a competitive, resilient economy that benefits people.
Fossil to Clean
Over 260 companies representing > $1.6 trillion in global annual revenue urged national governments to address the primary cause of climate change: burning fossil fuels. With our partners, we demonstrated how, with bold business and political leadership, we can scale clean energy and end our reliance on fossil fuels.
As the first global commitment to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels, the UAE Consensus achieved at COP28 was another high level signal for real economy actors to accelerate the clean energy transition. We contributed to this outcome by driving forward high levels of ambition at the right time, with the right message, and influencing the right decision makers.

Build Back Better
With leading businesses, we called on governments to align economic recovery with climate action so economies and the companies within them could emerge stronger after COVID-19.
The Coalition helped shape the early “Build Back Better” agenda. We convened business leaders to call for policy recommendations.
More than 1200 major global companies called on governments to invest in climate action and build back better through a series of high-profile letters and direct advocacy. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen referenced the ‘Build Back Better’ business letter in her 2020 State of the Union speech.

Business Ambition for 1.5°C
The Business Ambition for 1.5 campaign launched in 2019 as a collaboration between SBTi, UN Global Compact and We Mean Business Coalition. It moved more than 1000 companies representing over $23 trillion in market cap towards setting more ambitious targets aligned to a 1.5° C pathway. Many of these companies urged governments to act. For example, in 2021 we mobilized leading companies to call for ambitious outcomes from G20 Leaders towards reducing emissions in line with the climate science, and building resilience for societies, economies and businesses.
