Ceres’ leading experts to highlight key action steps to stop the climate crisis
CeresBriefing comes on the heels of an urgent call for action to the world’s largest greenhouse gas emitters to become net-zero businesses and as scientists warn emissions are headed back to pre-Covid levels
Ceres and its leading experts will hold a virtual media briefing at 2:00 PM ET on Tuesday, Sept. 15 to outline key action steps investors, companies, policymakers and regulators can take right now to address the worsening climate crisis and prevent the next climate catastrophe. The experts will highlight the latest trends that have emerged across sectors as businesses adapt to tackle this systemic threat. They will discuss new thought leadership resources — Ceres Investor Guide to Deforestation and Climate Change, Addressing Climate Risk as a Systemic Risk: a Call to Action for US Regulators, Ceres Blueprint for Responsible Policy Engagement on Climate Change — and highlight the growth and progress of investor-led initiatives — Climate Action 100+ and The Investor Agenda that are already inspiring positive action and engagement around the globe.
“There is a way forward in our new reality. And, together, we can act quickly and boldly to accelerate the transition to a more equitable, just and sustainable net-zero emissions economy. This year must be a year of action.”
Mindy Lubber, Ceres CEO and President
The briefing comes on the heels of an urgent call for action to 161 of the world’s largest corporate greenhouse gas emitters to put in place net-zero emissions strategies. Climate Action 100+ laid out for the first time how it will assess and benchmark the 161 emitters’ progress towards becoming net-zero businesses.
