Harnessing land and nature

To build a resilient net-zero economy, we must turn land systems from a carbon source to a carbon sink while securing an equitable, nature-positive future. Leading companies can harness natural climate solutions to cut emissions and remove carbon while also benefiting nature by building resilient and biodiverse ecosystems for generations to come.

We encourage companies to accelerate the transition to net-zero and nature-positive land and nature following the guidance below:

Nature asks for policymakers

The nature and climate crises are inextricably linked, as are their solutions. Addressing climate change strengthens nature’s ability to absorb carbon and adapt to climate impacts. Despite only receiving 5% of global public finance dedicated to mitigation measures, nature-based climate solutions have the potential to provide 30% of emissions reductions needed by 2030 to achieve a 1.5°C pathway.

We Mean Business Coalition endorses the recommendations issued by Business for Nature in July 2024 outlining the policies, legislation, regulations and incentives needed to create a nature-positive economy.

Building on the Integrated Policy Asks co-developed by We Mean Business Coalition and Business for Nature in 2021, this latest set of recommendations provides comprehensive guidance to governments working to implement the Global Biodiversity Framework and achieve the Paris Agreement.
