About We Mean Business Coalition
Collaboration is at the heart of who we are. We were founded by seven non-profits: BSR, CDP, Ceres, Climate Group, Corporate Leaders Groups, The B Team, and WBCSD. Beyond this core, we work with a wide group of companies, partners and policymakers to build a world in which people and businesses thrive within strong, resilient economies.
Our work is rooted in science and pragmatism and driven by the belief that business and policy leadership reinforce one another. Our programs and campaigns are coordinated by a central secretariat, delivered in collaboration with partners and overseen by the Board, who ensure strong governance, accountability, and strategic direction.

The Coalition was created by seven business-focused climate non-profits who joined forces with leading businesses in the run up to the UN Climate Conference COP21 in 2015. This show of private-sector support for ambitious policy helped give governments the confidence to deliver the landmark Paris Agreement.
Since then, we have mobilized leaders behind shared agendas and real-economy action, advocated for consistent, ambitious policy asks and amplified a credible business voice at critical moments – from the call to ‘build back better’ after the COVID pandemic to supporting an agreement to transition away from fossil fuels.

Climate change is a business reality, and the need for business leadership has never felt more urgent – or more validated. 20,000 companies have committed to bold action through Coalition initiatives, and year after year this number keeps growing.
