Founding partners

We Mean Business Coalition was founded by seven business-focussed climate non-profits: BSR, CDP, Ceres, Corporate Leaders Groups, Climate Group, The B Team, and WBCSD.

Together, we mobilize companies to take action, shape policies that accelerate progress, and ensure business voices are heard at the moments that matter to create resilient economies within a stable climate.

CDP is a global non-profit that runs the world’s only independent environmental disclosure system. As the founder of environmental reporting, we believe in transparency and the power of data to drive change. Partnering with leaders in enterprise, capital, policy and science, we surface the information needed to enable Earth-positive decisions. 24,800 companies worth two thirds of global market capitalization disclosed environmental data through CDP in 2024. Financial institutions with more than a quarter of the world’s institutional assets use CDP data to help inform investment and lending decisions. Our team is truly global, united by our shared desire to build a world where people, planet and profit are truly balanced.

CLG logo

Convened by the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), the Corporate Leaders Groups consist of members' groups based in Cambridge (CLG UK); Brussels (CLG Europe), and Cape Town, South Africa (CISL Africa). They provide a strong voice for businesses, both domestically and globally; develop credible, ambitious positions amongst its membership, and deploy effective strategic communications to engage with the highest levels of policy audiences. Since its start in 2005, the CLGs have helped build consensus across business communities in support of climate action. One of the founders of the We Mean Business Coalition, they are guided by CISL’s world-class expertise and specialist teams to build understanding and shape policy for a sustainable economy.

Climate Group logo

Climate Group is an international non-profit, launched in 2004, with offices in London, Amsterdam, Beijing, New Delhi, and New York. Our mission is to drive climate action, fast. Our goal is a world of net zero carbon emissions by 2050, with greater prosperity for all. We do this by forming powerful networks of business and government, unlocking the power of collective action and scale to move whole systems such as energy, transport, industry, and food to a cleaner future. Together, we’re helping to shift global markets and policies towards faster reductions in carbon emissions.

The B Team is a collective of business and civil society leaders who believe that business has a pivotal role to play in creating good jobs and building an energy secure future on a healthy planet. We champion changes to our economic systems and business practices that protect our natural environment and help build a safe, sustainable, and prosperous future for all.
