2022 will be remembered as a momentus year, with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the resulting energy crisis, and inflation impacting people and businesses around the world. Meanwhile, climate-related disasters continued to escalate, with prolonged heatwaves and drought in Europe and China causing widespread suffering and disrupting global supply chains.
While nobody predicted or welcomed these circumstances, the events of 2022 have vindicated those voices within the business community, aligned with We Mean Business Coalition, which have been calling for urgent climate action and a rapid shift away from fossil fuels.
The Coalition has already mobilized thousands of companies to take ambitious climate action and ultimately wants this to become millions. In 2022, we further solidified our role as an indispensible partner to businesses determined to be climate leaders. We are supporting businesses in target-setting and providing guidance on preparing Climate Transition Action Plans to turn their ambition into action, helping companies to understand and act on the challenges of full value chain decarbonization and investing in protecting and restoring nature.
